1. Steam cleaning:

3. Dry cleaning of a carpet:

If the fibbers on your carpet cannot get wet, it’s best to turn to dry cleaning. And it is not always necessary to deal with a professional, as some products for dry cleaning carpets are available.

For example, the soil of Sommières will be useful for removing a stain on a carpet, especially if it is greasy. The earth of Sommières allows to detach and absorb the fat on the carpet, without leaving haloes and without altering the colour. This product can be used even on fine fabrics and leather.

4. How to clean a carpet with white vinegar:

In addition to costing almost nothing, white vinegar has bacterial, antiseptic and cleansing virtues. To remove a stain on a carpet and disinfect it, a recipe combining white vinegar and salt can be used: 1/2 cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons salt. Allow the salt to dissolve in the vinegar, then rub the stain with this solution and rinse with a damp sponge. Once everything is dry, you just have to vacuum.

5. How to clean a carpet with bicarbonate:

A natural way to clean a carpet in addition to deodorizing it is to use baking soda. Here’s how: Start by vacuuming to remove dust and debris. Sprinkle the bicarbonate all over the carpet. For deep cleaning, brush the entire surface so that the bicarbonate coats all the fibbers in the carpet, especially where stains are. Leave for a few hours, even overnight. Vacuum carefully in all directions. This will revive the fibbers of your carpet.

6. Clean a carpet with sparkling water:

For a lingering stain on a carpet, try cleaning it with sparkling water combined with white vinegar. Mix the two liquids in equal parts, then apply the mixture directly to the stain and dab it with a clean white cloth. This recipe will be useful for removing coffee, wine and even urine stains. You could also use only sparkling water and rub gently with a clean white cloth. Let the water work for 30 minutes, then sprinkle bicarbonate on the carpet. When the bicarbonate is dry, vacuum.

7. Shaving foam can be used to clean a carpet:

To remove a stain on a carpet, apply a good amount of shaving foam. Leave for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight. All you have to do is rub the stain and vacuum.

8. Lemon juice to clean a carpet:

Some stains, such as those left by mud or soil, can be cleaned with lemon juice. To do this, simply dilute fresh lemon juice in a little water, and then gently rub the stain on the carpet. You could also make a paste with fresh lemon juice and salt, and use it to remove a stain on your carpet. Gently rub the stain with this paste. Rinse with a damp sponge. Allow to dry and vacuum well. Of course, you will need to test this solution on a small, non-visible part of your carpet.

9. Clean a carpet with ammonia:

For stubborn stains on your carpet, you can use ammonia. Simply pour a little on a damp cloth, then dab the stain until it disappears. Rinse with a clean cloth soaked in water and let it dry.

10. Maintain and protect the carpet from stains:

The best way to keep a carpet in good condition is to vacuum regularly and give it a monthly baking soda treatment. And once your carpet is clean, you’ll probably want to avoid retaliating it. Be aware that there are waterproofing and stain-proof products for carpets. These products are mostly odourless and invisible and allow your carpet to keep a new look. They can also be applied to your fabric or leather armchairs, and even to some clothing.
